Bournbrook's streets are packed with parked cars, many of them belonging to students, and plenty sit unused for days at a time. That is when a slow puncture turns into a flat. The Bristol Road runs straight through the middle, with Aston Webb Boulevard carrying the A38 past on the other side, and the traffic on both leaves its share of debris. Once the size and the street name are known, the fitting happens right outside.

A permit bay outside the house is often usable, provided there is room beside the car to lift it and the permit is displayed. Grange Road Car Park is a public option nearby. The retail park and Aldi car parks are an option while the car can still creep along. University car parks are for campus users, so they are not somewhere to arrange a fitting. Bus lanes, junction corners and double yellows cannot be used.

Bournbrook is B29, with B15 and B5 at the edges nearest the university. Calls come from shared houses on the terraces, from drivers stopped near Selly Oak station, and from shoppers at Selly Oak Retail Park and the Aldi. Parking is the main headache. Many of the streets are permit-only, so a car in a permit bay should have its permit on display before the fitter arrives, and a car squeezed in with no room on the road side may need to go somewhere with more space. The Bristol Road has bus lanes, and no work is done in them. The Clean Air Zone stops well short of Bournbrook, so a short move carries no charge, only a risk to the tyre.
