Bowes Road passes within a few hundred yards of the station here, close enough that much of the damage seen in these streets was done on it. A rim clipped while pulling in, a slow leak that chooses a Sunday morning to give out, a valve that has perished quietly: all of it shows itself on the avenues rather than on the trunk road. That suits the work. A car outside its own house on a wide residential street is the easiest thing a fitter can be sent to.

Drives, bays and car parks.

The drive at the front of the house first. Failing that, the kerb on a residential avenue, car parked straight, the wheel being changed kept to the pavement side if the road permits. Alderman's Hill and Bounds Green Road carry too much through traffic to be comfortable, so a turning off either is better. Store bays at the Aldi or the Co-op are for shoppers, so ask at the till if you intend to have work done in one. Nothing at all happens on the North Circular.

Most of the ringing comes from housing on either side of the station, the avenues that run between Waterfall Road and Cannon Hill, and the pockets backing onto Palmers Green and Southgate. Off-street space is common on these streets, which is the single biggest difference between this district and the ones squeezed up against the North Circular. Where there is no drive, the avenues give enough width to work at the kerb without the car sticking out into anybody's way. Signed public parking sits over at Lodge Drive in Palmers Green rather than here, so do not count on finding a car park in the district itself. Station parking belongs to the railway, which makes it a question rather than an arrangement.
