The fitter needs about a car door's width beside the wheel, flat hard ground under the jack and somewhere the van can stand without hemming anyone in. In Shirley the flat, spacious retail parks on Marshall Lake Road and the quieter streets leading off Haslucks Green Road give that room, while the busy Stratford Road frontage does not.
