Aston wheels take punishment from motorway debris and estate potholes in equal measure. A weight flicked off by a hole in the road behind Trinity Road, a kerb clipped while parking for a fixture at Villa Park, or a tyre changed elsewhere and never spun properly will all set up a tremble. It stays hidden in the Lichfield Road queues and arrives on the A38(M) or the M6 approach at Gravelly Hill.
Each wheel in question is taken off and put on the machine the van carries, spun to locate the heavy point, then weighted where the readout says, clip-on for steel or adhesive for alloys, and spun again to check. The nuts go back to the torque the manufacturer states. On the phone, say whether the shake is in the steering or through the floor, and the price is settled then.

Balancing has limits worth knowing.
