Being this near a town centre changes the shape of the problem. Space is the scarce thing rather than distance: a car with a flat on a Widmore side street may be sitting in a marked bay with a time limit on it, and the driver wants the wheel off and back on without surrendering the space. Off-street parking is the exception rather than the rule this close in, so most Widmore jobs happen at the kerb. That works where the car is square in its bay with a little room ahead or behind for the van. A permit bay or a ticketed one is fine while the permit or the ticket holds. A shared parking court behind flats is good ground if the freeholder is content. The supermarket car parks and the town multi-storeys are somebody else's property, so treat them as a question rather than an assumption.

What is out is the A21 where it runs as Kentish Way, Tweedy Road and Masons Hill, carrying the town's through traffic, and the A222 where it narrows towards Market Square. Town car parks such as The Hill answer to their operator, not to us.
