Tyres do not usually fail here in dramatic fashion. This is a residential corner between Twickenham and Teddington where the car spends most of its life parked, so the flat tends to be found on a Saturday morning rather than at speed. The cause is mundane: a kerb taken at an angle on one of the narrow roads off Waldegrave Road, or a screw picked up on the A310 Strawberry Vale and left to work its way in. Match days at Twickenham Stadium tighten parking across TW1 and TW2, so mention the fixture if there is one. The A316 Chertsey Road, a short run north, is a red route, and there is no pulling over on it.
