Mobile tyre fitting
in Old Street.
Old Street roundabout throws the A501 and the A5201 into each other over the station beneath it. Nobody changes a tyre on a junction like that. Rescue Tyres meets the car on a side street or in a bay instead.

The junction is what makes tyre trouble here its own thing. Traffic is heavy and slow, the kerbs on the approaches are high, and a wheel clipped while filtering towards Great Eastern Street or East Road does not always announce itself at once. Couriers and delivery vans collect screws on the same loop day after day. The first move is always to get away from the roundabout and its approaches. From a turning off Great Eastern Street the wheel can come off safely and the work gets done there.

Tyre work in Old Street.
A tyre that will hold no air is easy to sort here. A replacement is sourced to the size, load index and speed letter stamped on the one coming off, and fitted where it stands, with the old one going back in the van. Where the puncture sits in the tread and the casing reads clean inside, a repair to BS AU 159 saves it. A blowout means a fresh tyre, and the rim is studied before anything goes back. A locking key that has gone missing stops nothing; the nuts are drawn off regardless.
Repairs follow BS AU 159; the legal minimum tread is 1.6mm (GOV.UK).

Drives, bays and car parks.
A bay on a residential turning behind City Road is the realistic answer here, or a private space under a building if you have one and the manager agrees to it. Basement and multi storey parking around Old Street tends to be permit or barrier controlled rather than open to anyone who pulls up, so check what yours allows before counting on it. The roundabout, the bus lanes and the loading bays on Great Eastern Street are all ruled out for work of this kind.
The patch around Old Street covers the blocks along City Road and East Road and the working vehicles that spend all day round here. Parking is controlled throughout and much of it is metered, with loading bays that change their meaning at different times of day, so the sign on the post decides where a fitter can stand. The roundabout approaches, Great Eastern Street and Shoreditch High Street are all too busy to use, whatever the markings say. Shoreditch, Hoxton and the City begin within half a mile, so a car that has to be shifted rarely goes far to find a quieter kerb. The whole area is ULEZ, and the Congestion Charge boundary cuts through it along City Road, though neither of them applies to a stationary car.
